Educator shot and killed
“Another senseless killing of an educator outraged the education community.”
Police have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of Rivoni Secondary School’s deputy principal, at the Chris Hani Mall, Vosloorus, on October 8.
According to the Gauteng Department of Education’s spokesperson, Steve Mabona, the victim attended a meeting about a case involving one of his colleagues.
The Gauteng MEC of Education Matome Chiloane extended his condolences to the victim’s family, colleagues, and the entire school community.
“We are heartbroken by this senseless killing of our dedicated educator,” said Chiloane.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and the department has activated psycho-social support services for those affected by the tragedy.
