Dawn Park students showcase their skills at KFC Mini-Cricket Festival

The KFC Mini-Cricket Provincial Festival is an annual event that brings together participating schools from across the province.

Dawn Park Primary School recently participated in the highly anticipated KFC Mini-Cricket Provincial Festival at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, where learners had the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against other schools from around Gauteng.

Teacher Siphesihle Mayisela expressed her excitement about the event, stating, “This was the Provincial Mini Cricket festival where our learners were given the chance to test and improve their skills.

“The festival not only allowed the children to develop their cricketing abilities but also provided a platform for them to enhance their social skills through teamwork and friendly competition.”

The KFC Mini-Cricket Provincial Festival is an annual event that brings together participating schools from across the province.

Its platform serves as a crucial stage for grassroots development, where the love for cricket is nurtured and the potential of young players is identified.

Mayisela said over the years the festival has been sponsored by various organisations, with Bakers Biscuits being the previous sponsor and KFC currently supporting the event.

“The sponsorship has been instrumental in providing the necessary resources and infrastructure to ensure the success of the festival.

“The festival places a strong emphasis on developmental skills and exposure to the sport. It is designed to be a fun and engaging experience for the learners, with a focus on skill development and enjoyment of the game.”
