You can still donate wool to the Advertiser

Urban Ruins and CANSA benefitted from the initiative so far.

Community members can now donate wool and knitted items to the Boksburg Advertiser’s Winter Wool Project until August 30.

Project co-ordinater Elize Kluyts said the July 31 cut-off date for the drive has been extended due the success of the initiative.

“People are still donating items, and we want to take the opportunity to help more people,” Kluyts said.

Wool donations help the publication support various local groups that knit teddies and other items for distribution to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and organisations that look after the underprivileged, especially in winter.

Apart from CANSA, Urban Ruins has benefited from the project this year.

The Advertiser thanks community members like Monica Bruiners from Reiger Park who has been knitting items like for the publication to hand out.

Bruiners said she is helping the Advertiser because she wants to do her bit to help the less fortunate.

“It’s so fulfilling to be able to help and always a pleasure to give back,” she said.

Kluyts thanked Bruiners and all members of the public who contributed to the success of the initiative.
She urged the community to keep the donations coming. All qualities, quantities and textures are welcome.
