Members of the Reiger Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit and Gauteng crime prevention wardens arrested a Reiger Park man on April 15 after he allegedly threatened residents with a firearm.

According to Constable Johannes Msimanga, spokesperson for the Reiger Park SAPS, the incident transpired during routine patrol duties within the Reiger Park flats.

 

The firearm which was seized.

“Their efforts took a decisive turn when they received urgent information regarding a man reportedly wielding a firearm and intimidating residents.
“They encountered a man matching the description in a vehicle and stopped the vehicle to question him.
“Permission was sought and granted to search the individual, revealing an alarming discovery.

“An unlicenced .38 special revolver loaded with five live rounds was found in his possession. The suspect was arrested and detained at Reiger Park SAPS.
“The station commander commended the members for their swift action in removing firearms from the wrong hands,” said Msimanga.
