Murders continue to plague Reiger Park

One man was stabbed to death while another was shot multiple times in his car.

A 29-year-old man was stabbed to death in front of Reiger Park Secondary School on the evening of December 12.

Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson Constable Johannes Msimanga said the man, believed to be a Malawian national, was walking along Leon Ferreira Street when four men approached him.

“He ran away but, unfortunately, his cellphone fell on the ground and he turned back to pick it up.

“While he was bending down, one of the men stabbed him in the left hand and chest,” said Msimanga.

The man died on the scene. The robber took the cellphone, a bag and a wallet and fled. Police are investigating a case of murder.

• On December 12, a 50-year-old man was shot multiple times while waiting in a car in Clarence September Street.

According to the Reiger Park community medic and chaplain Kevin Koopman, the man had just finished work and went with a colleague to the colleague’s mother’s house as the colleague needed to get something.

“An unknown number of men pulled up in a car where the man was parked and started shooting at him,” said Koopman.
“He is in a critical but stable condition.”

The Boksburg Advertiser is still awaiting a full report from the police.
