Students hailed for exceptional performance

The karatekas won 44 medals during the Dries Le Grange Memorial Tournament.

The Benoni JKA Karate chief instructor, sensei Mike Forner, hailed his students for their performance after they dominated the SAJKA Dries La Grange Memorial Tournament in Heidelberg on October 28.

The students collected 44 medals out of a possible 46 at the tournament in kata and kumite.

“This was an exceptional performance and included several students who competed in a tournament for the first time. We are proud of all our students,” he said.

The karateka won 11 gold, three silver and six bronze medals in kata and landed nine gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals in kumite.
