Metro warns of planned power outage today

The city apologises for the inconvenience this may cause.

The City of Ekurhuleni warns residents of Boksburg to brace themselves for a five-hour power outage today (November 1).

According to metro spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini, the planned power supply interruption between 08:00 and 13:00 will allow technicians time to do the much-needed upgrade of the equipment at the Dawn Park substation.
The affected areas include Klipportjie, Groeneweide, Windmill Park extensions one and two, Jozi housing flats, HFR Trucking Company; and Boksburg Correctional Services.
“The upgrade work is necessary to enhance the stability of the power supply in the area,” said Dlamini.

Residents are advised to treat electrical networks as live at all times.
