Remember to support National Cupcake Day

Community members are urged to bake cupcakes for the day or just come out to the mall to support the initiative.

The time has almost arrived for National Cupcake Day and community members are reminded to support the initiative at participating malls nationwide, such as the East Rand Mall on September 30.

Cupcakes of Hope is driven by a singular mission: to meet the financial and emotional needs of children with cancer and support their families. From everyday essentials like food and nappies to critical medical requirements such as wheelchairs and prosthetics, Cupcake Angels (volunteers) proudly stand united behind the #bake4cancer banner and provide tangible support.

They look after 230 patients.

East Rand Mall coordinator Dawn Tiplady encouraged the community to bake cupcakes for the day or just come out to the mall to support the initiative.
“This day cannot be a success without the assistance of the community,” she said.

According to Tiplady, they aim to raise R120 000 at East Rand Mall this year.

Tiplady said there will also be face painting, ribbons of hope, a photo booth and a raffle to look forward to.

The coordinator said the support has been amazing this year, adding they already have 55 volunteers ready to make a difference.

She thanked Sugar and Craft, Arbor Primary, Jeppe High School for Girls, Excel Edu Centre, Word and Life Church Benoni, Word and Life Boksburg, Cupcake Angels for working all year to put this together, Potties Cutting Edge and East Rand Mall and management.
