Windmill Park: two shebeen patrons killed, three injured in random shooting

The Dawn Park police are man-hunting the suspect.

Two people were killed in Windmill Park on July 16 when an unknown suspect randomly opened fire at a group of people sitting around a fire outside a illegal shebeen.

According to the SAPS district office’s spokesperson, Captain Neldah Sekgobela, three people in the group were also injured and taken to hospital.

“When the Dawn Park police arrived, the suspect had already fled but they arrested the owner of the shebeen for selling liquor without a licence and confiscated liquor and fridges.

“Police found 9mm cartridges scattered around the scene. The motive for the shooting is unknown,” said Sekgobela, adding a case of murder and attempted has been opened at the Dawn Park Police Station.
