DWS offers matrics bursaries

Note the fields of study the department is looking for.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has made available comprehensive bursaries for the 2024 academic year to Grade 12 learners who plan to pursue studies in the water and sanitation field.

The bursary application, open from July 1 to November 30, targets learners with outstanding academic performance, financial need and the relevant skill set in the sector.

The DWS spokesperson, Wisane Mavasa, said the bursaries were comprehensive and covered tuition fees, accommodation and food as per university guidance.

They will also receive books, a stationery allowance and a monthly stipend.

“Through the bursaries offered to students, the department then provides employment contracts during which the bursars get workplace exposure and additional training until they are ready to register as professionals with their relevant professional bodies,” said Mavasa.
