Operations held to reduce crime are successful

No trio crimes were reported while the operations were conducted.

Boksburg North SAPS held three successful operations in the area aimed at reducing crime over the long weekend, which saw several arrests.

The operations were held in conjunction with the EMPD, CPF, local security companies and AfriForum and led by Boksburg North SAPS Vispol commander Lieutenant Colonel Thembi Skhosana.

Skhosana highlighted they were increasing police visibility to address crimes such as street robberies, theft out of motor vehicles and hijackings.

“We patrolled hotspots such as Jet Park, Anderbolt and the N12. No trio crimes were committed during the time of our patrols.”

During the operation held on April 28, two people were arrested for being illegally in the country and three for drunken driving and public drinking.

Meanwhile, four people were arrested for drinking in public, two for drunk driving and one for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm on April 30.

The law enforcement officers also had a fruitful operation on May 1, with six people nabbed for drinking in public, two for drunk driving and one for driving without a license. Traffic fines to the value of R5 950 were issued.
