Top brands support youth hockey tournament

The tournament will begin on June 25 and will be televised on SuperSport Schools on DStv.

With the backing of multiple partners, the South African Schools Hockey Association (SASHOC) Nationals should produce electric action across the board this year.

The national high school tournaments – sponsored by Sportsmans Warehouse, Grays Hockey, Trompie Sport, and renowned brands SPAR and iKhokha – will all be staged in Bloemfontein, southern Free State, between June 25 and July 12.

“Trompie Sport is excited to be a partner for the highly anticipated SASHOC nationals. It is a privilege for us to be a part of an event where the most promising youth talent in our country is promoted on such a big stage, and we are proud to be playing a role in creating opportunities for these rising young stars,” said the company’s marketing manager, Dean Stokes.

The tournament will take place in Southern Free State.

Having backed last year’s competition, Grays Hockey is pleased to be involved again.

“We feel it is important for us to continue contributing to all age groups, and we are delighted to be involved again with the tournament by building on last year’s partnership,” said the sales and marketing executive, Brett Burnill.

Sportsmans Warehouse’s Nicole Birch said the company is proud to be involved with the tournament.

The SASHOC nationals will begin on June 25.

“As a brand that offers a range of hockey kit and equipment, we are proud supporters of the sport and it is great to be directly involved in the biggest schools hockey tournaments in the country, creating opportunities for promising young players around South Africa,” Birch said.

Tlali Taoana explained this competition would nurture tomorrow’s leaders.

“Tomorrow’s leaders are nurtured in our classrooms and on our sporting fields, and we believe strong leadership is the key to unlocking our true economic potential as a nation.

“We are proud to support SASHOC, an organisation that inspires leadership, passion, and performance, which are values we believe are essential for building healthy, profitable businesses.”

SPAR’s Marlene Gunter pointed out that events like this are crucial for the development of the nation’s youth, both on and off the field of play.

“By participating at these tournaments, young hockey players from South Africa will be able to enjoy a world-class sporting experience while gaining skills and values that will help them find success throughout their lives, wherever their paths might ultimately take them.”

The tournament will be broadcast on SuperSport Schools on DStv.
