Gas Tanker Explosion: Support golf day to raise funds for victims

Also part of the charity initiative to assist the affected families, AIDA is appealing to the community to open their hearts by donating their pre-owned goods.

Touched by the plight of the survivors of the Boksburg Tanker explosion, AIDA Boksburg, in partnership with Tuckers Attorneys and Hammond Pole Attorneys, is hosting a golf day to raise funds for the survivors and families of those who lost their loved ones in the tragedy.

The event organisers are inviting locals, including businesses, to support the initiative, which will be on March 28 at the ERPM Golf Course. Registration will start at 09:30 and tee-off is at 10:30.
A four-ball will cost R1 800. This includes a halfway-house meal, drinks and dinner.

Apart from the golf course action and networking, attendees will also be treated to live entertainment.

Along with the event organisers and some of the victims, the Advertiser revisited the scene on Wednesday. Seen here are (from left) Sandra Mombeshora (victim), Lesley Pountain (AIDA), Mbali Mashinini (AIDA), Anthony Louw (Tuckers), Trudy Potgieter (AIDA), Denver Ramnath (AIDA) Felicia Mvenya (victim), Andrew Gerhard (Hammond Pole) and Marius de Vos.

The target is to raise a minimum of R100 000, which will be used to provide the basic needs for those (including children) whose plights have been eclipsed by the tragedy – after losing breadwinners; lost their belongings, including furniture, being left disabled and had their homes damaged.
Also part of the charity initiative to assist the affected families, AIDA is appealing to the community to open their hearts by donating their pre-owned goods.

These items may include clothing, bedding and blankets, children’s toys, baby items and non-perishable food, including pet food, as well as pet food dispensers and items such as food bowls, leashes, new or used blankets, dog beds or kennels and any other pet necessities.

They can deliver all donations to the AIDA office at 30 Trichardts Road, corner Paul Kruger Street, Boksburg North.
Alternatively, arrange for them to collect your donations.

For more information, contact AIDA at 011 917 3135 or the managing director Denver Ramnath at 083 263 8576.
According to Ramnath, the raised funds and donations will go directly to the desperate families.
