Brits wins Mr Athletic

He is aiming to get his pro-status.

Boksburg’s Jannie ‘JJ’ Brits (31) continues on his winning way as a bodybuilder.

He stole the show when he won the Mr Athletic (aka Classic Bodybuilding) category and the overall title during the IBFF All Africa bodybuilding competition held on September 24.

This comes after he won the IBFF Fire and Ice Provincial Bodybuilding contest which took place at Roodepoort Theatre on August 20. His position in that contest granted him the status to participate in the IBFF All Africa competition. The prestigious event was held at the Unisa Building in Pretoria.

JJ said he feels happy that he won in his category because he competes with a mindset to be in the top three.
“I feel blessed beyond measure and grateful for all that I have achieved. This is a clear indication that hard work pays off.

“They were more than 250 bodybuilders at the show. Participating in the IBFF All Africa is always something huge for any bodybuilder because they get a chance to compete against the best in the country. This is the second time I win the overall and category titles in competitions, so I’m proud of myself and I will continue training hard.”

He added that he trained for 17 weeks for this contest, didn’t leave out any training exercises, and he kept his mind focused on the training schedule.

“I brought the full package, from conditioning to symmetry and I feel that played a massive contribution to my hunt for gold. My priority was just to train hard and to also focus on a strict diet plan. And at the end of the day, the results were good.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank everybody who supported me throughout this long preparation for the competition and everyone who supported me.

“And I would also like to thank my sponsors Irvine Renovations and Grounded Fitness for supporting me,” said Brits.

He said that he won’t be competing in any other competitions this year. He still aims to become a pro.
