Heritage Month: Tell us what’s on your mind

Heritage Month is commemorated to mark our nation's diverse culture and heritage.

The Advertiser asked a few locals what Heritage Month, annually celebrated in September, means to them.

Thandi Maseko: I’m Swazi. Heritage Month helps me to reflect on who I am and where I come from. It helps unify us and we end up learning about different cultures.

Samantha Samson: I’m an Indian and we have a colourful heritage. This month we can reflect on all the cultures in our country. My favourite traditional dishes are breyani and malva pudding.

Zanté Kruger: I’m an Afrikaner. By celebrating Heritage Month we learn to appreciate everybody’s different cultures and it becomes our responsibility to persevere our heritage for the next culture.
