How to make it

  1. After collecting leaves, press the leaves so they are flat. An old phone book works best for pressing leaves.
  2. If you don’t have a spare phone book or yellow pages, wrap the leaves in a kitchen towel or newspaper and stack a hefty book on top. Two days of pressing is usually enough time to ensure the leaves are flat.
  3. Children are frequently scared to commit to something permanent, for fear of getting it wrong. Helping your child to arrange the leaves on a piece of cardboard before sticking them is a terrific way to promote confidence because children can see exactly what their animal will look like before they commit to it!
