Boksburg FC U12 closer to securing league title

The Blues must win their remaining matches to win the league.

Boksburg FC U12 could secure this year’s Easterns Local Football Association (ELFA) League Two title before the season ends.

This comes after the team maintained their winning run on July 27 at the Italian Club in Bedfordview after beating Olympia 2-0.

The first encounter between these two sides resulted in Boksburg winning by 4-1. Olympia went close to scoring five minutes into the second encounter, but the effort was well saved by Abriam Finnies.

The Blues saw their first effort sail over the bar after an excellent interplay between Letlotlo Khuma and Cade Louw on the right wing, which resulted in a cross which Pule Matuka couldn’t convert. The first half ended goalless.

Coach of Boksburg FC Sheldon Louw made some tactical changes going into the second half by pushing some of the defenders to subdue a stronger Olympia midfield.

The change of tactics by the away team paid dividends as sustained pressure resulted in a fierce header finding the far corner of the net from Boksburg’s man of the match Uaripfa Mudau.

The second goal came midway through the second half when Matuka put in a world-class cross, which Louw calmly slotted away past a hapless Olympia keeper.

The Blues have 46 points from 16 games, winning 15 and drawing one. Boksburg FC next face Old Bens at PG Park on August 6.
