NPO educates Reiger Park community about GBV

The awareness campaign was a success, with over 500 pamphlets distributed in the areas visited.

Thusang Community Development in conjunction with Ekupoleni Health and Reiger Park SAPS held a motorcade GBV awareness campaign on July 29.

The campaign was held in four hot spots in Reiger Park and was attended by Ward 34 councillor Edith Klassen, CPF members, the Gauteng Traffic Police, the Department of Social Development and the Reiger Park Community Forum.

According to the founder of Thusang Community Development, Lufuno Mudzuli, they wanted to encourage the community to report all forms of abuse.

“This was a message to people that they are not alone and that we are here to help. There are always ways to help those who are victims of abuse.

“GBV is still a serious problem in South Africa and a violation of human rights,” said Mudzuli.

Mudzuli pointed out that the awareness campaign was a success, with over 500 pamphlets distributed.
