Woodlands students collect tinned food for Mandela Day

The school collected over a 1000 tins.

Woodlands International Junior College students are always up for a charity drive and its Mandela Day tinned food collection was no exception.

The students were challenged to collect 67 tins of food as a class to reach the overall goal of collecting a total of 670 tins of food.

Several classes met this challenge and a few classes exceed expectations. In total, the Junior College collected over 1 000 tins.

“The generosity of our students and their families embodies the philosophy of ubuntu in which Nelson Mandela believed. In his own words, ‘What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead’,” said the college in a statement.
