Boksburg North CPF chairperson vows to continue to tackle violence
Mark is an executive CPF chairperson for four sectors and a member of the Ekurhuleni Public Relations Operation's Board (PRO).
Mark Gilpin, a resident of Boksburg North, has been a pillar in the community for the past 12 years, fighting crime.
The 55-year-old said he joined the CPF because he was sick of complaining about crime in his neighbourhood.
“I am an executive CPF chairperson for four sectors and a member of the Ekurhuleni Public Relations Operation’s Board (PRO).
“I used to sit on the fence and complain about everything until I told myself that I needed to get involved and make a difference.
“I’ve always wanted to help the community. I do not want the community to be afraid and my goal as CPF is to create a secure environment,” said Gilpin.
Gilpin, an ex-military personnel and businessman, mentioned that drug abuse and domestic violence are high on the CPFs agenda.
“These are community concerns and we are collaborating closely with the Boksburg North Police Department to address them.
“We want to stop people from reacting negatively when they see crime. We have people who see crime but do not report it because they believe it has nothing to do with them.
“We want to prevent women who are victims of GBV from being afraid to report crime especially women who are financially depended on their partners,” said Gilpin.
Gilpin emphasised that only community involvement could make Boksburg a safer place.
“I’d also like to see more people join the CPF and volunteer in our community,” said Gilpin.
