ERU first golf day a success

The club is now planning to hold more golf days.

The Reiger Park East Rand United first golf day at the ERPM on May proved to be a success.

The objective of the event was to raise funds that will assist the club during the Valke Peregrine League.

Organiser of the event, Lesley-Ann Jantjies, said she is happy with the outcome of the golf day.

“We’re pleased with how the event went, esp

ecially since it was our first golf day. Community members, club members and SASCOC president Barry Hendricks supported us. There were about 68 players.

“Instead of just saying we don’t have a sponsor, we arranged a fund-raising event,” she explained.

She also thank sponsors such as Crown Hardware, CASLAD, Keluvia Aluminium, Rowlin National, Brokers, Permacon and Barloworld Equipment.

The club raised about R35 000 through this initiative.

The event ended with an auction, prize-giving and dinner. United auctioned off a framed 2019 Rugby Word Club jersey signed by most players for R10 000 (included in the amount mentioned above) to Innovation Shrink and Wrap.

Jantjies highlighted there are only 100 of these jerseys. She said the club is planning to hold a golf day annually.
