Crisis centre receives a warm gesture

A 95-year-old Daphne Braaf has donated knitted items to the Advertiser's Winter Wool Drive.

Reiger Park Community Crisis Centre has benefited from the Advertiser’s annual Winter Wool Drive.

Knitted items, including scarves, gloves and hats were donated to the centre on May 10.
A social worker at the centre, Phina Moholola, thanked Daphne Braaf, who knitted the items, and the Advertiser for their amazing gesture.

“Many people will keep warm this winter, thanks to the drive, as some of the beneficiaries don’t have money to buy items like scarves, gloves and hats. We appreciate everyone who made the wool drive a success,” said the social worker.

Reiger Park Crisis Centre is a Reiger Park-based organisation that caters for the needy, crime victims and the sick, including families affected by or infected with HIV, gender-based violence victims and others.

Support our wool drive
As the winter is here, the public is encouraged to donate wool, knitting needles and knitted items towards the drive.
The contributions will go to old age homes and other community members who are interested in knitting squares.

Organisations with social knitting circles who would like to knit squares or anyone wanting more information can email project coordinator Elize Kluyts at elizek@caxton.co.za
