LETTER: Thank you, Tambo Memorial Hospital

Cindy Visser, writes:

When people hear the word state hospital they already assume the worst.

A few years ago I thought it couldn’t happen but it did. My water broke at 26 weeks. I was admitted to Tambo Memorial Hospital.

I was scared and confused and didn’t know what to expect. I was shocked, I felt alone but not for long.
The staff and patients at the hospital were more than helpful.

I met a lady named Brenda. She was a patient there and she also gave birth to a premature baby. Wow, what a friend. Five years later and we are still friends. When times got tough she helped me through it all.

For the mommies who are scared and alone, I found an excellent organisation called Little Steps that went beyond to help me. They gave me the contact details of a lady that specialises in premature babies. She guided me through all the ins and outs and she visited me regularly all with the help of Little Steps.

Mommies, don’t be afraid. They are all little fighters.
