City encourages residents to use metro issued wheelie bins

Customers who may have their wheelie bins stolen or damaged can get their replacements at their nearest customer care centres or waste management depots.

The City of Ekurhuleni notes with concern the ongoing trend of customers not making use of their 240L bins for their intended purpose of containing domestic waste.

As such, the City wishes to encourage all rate-paying customers to utilise the wheelie bins to contain domestic waste and refrain from the use of refuse bags or even the act of illegal dumping.
The City of Ekurhuleni started rolling out the bins to all its customers in the year 2014, to increase the storage capacity to contain domestic waste and to curb the infestation of rodents.
