The latest robbery came less than a month after a heavily armed gang robbed two stores at East Rand Junction in Rietfontein Road.

East Rand Value Mall has become the latest armed robbery target when robbers stormed the centre and held up the Cash Converters outlet this morning, February 3.

According to the Boksburg North police, it was just before 11:00 when about five armed men wearing masks entered the store and held staff at gunpoint. Thereupon, the assailants took cellphones, laptops, jewellery and money from the tills.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. The value of the stolen goods is not yet known.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the five men who robbed the store.
It’s unclear whether the robbers fled the scene on foot or if they had a getaway vehicle.

The latest robbery came less than a month after a heavily armed gang robbed two stores at East Rand Junction in Rietfontein Road.
During the robbery, gunmen opened fire, damaging shop windows and customers’ vehicles. They then entered the targeted stores and took cellphones and clothing worth R750 000 combined.

No arrests have been made in connection with the East Rand Junction robbery, but a team of detectives is following up on all leads to track down the heavily armed robbers.
