Theft of cables cause of power outage in Dawn Park and surrounds

The council hopes to restore one feeder cable by tonight and will then introduce rotational load reduction.

According to the Ekurhuleni metro, Dawn Park, Windmill Park, Boksburg Correctional Services and surrounding areas are without power due to theft of feeder cables.

According to one resident the power went out at 2am on Wednesday morning.

Metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini reported this morning that the cable duct is flooded with water and a team is busy pumping out the water.

“The expected restoration time of electricity to the affected areas will be communicated in due course,” he said.

“At present, we are looking to restore one feeder by tonight. We will then introduce rotational load reduction to share available capacity between affected areas until we restore full capacity.”
