Organisations to work together to feed the needy

The organisations are, however, in need of the community's support to assist the needy.

Local NPOs Boksburg Broodblik Boksburg/Bread-Bin Feeding Project, Zalisidinga African Traditional Council and Gatsheni Youth Foundation are joining forces to feed and uplift underprivileged people in the Boksburg community.

The NPOs aim to feed needy people twice a week at their facilities. The Bread-Bin Feeding Project is situated at 26 Fourth Avenue, Boksburg North, Zalisdinga African Traditional Council in 231 Chitembo Street, Extension 28, Vosloorus, and Gatsheni Youth Foundation in 51 Hare Street in Villa Liza.

According to the founder of the Bread-Bin Feeding project, Cobus Uys, the organisations will be able to assist more people if they work together.

“The more donations we get, the more people we can feed. We realised that we share the same vision following the Department of Social Development’s suggestion that we work together. We all just want to give back to the community and assist people in need and have been helping each other to do that since June.

“Moreover, we want to start sustainable gardens and programmes where we can teach people skills with the assistance of other companies,” said Uys.

Zalisidinga African Traditional Council provincial leader, principal chief Godfrey Fanie, and Gatsheni Youth Foundation, chairperson Duduzile Mahlangu, also expressed their excitement about working together.

The organisations stressed they need donations and appealed for the community’s assistance. They need donations, such as food, seeds and garden tools, tunnels and premises for the vegetable garden, stationery and office furniture and stationery, such as printers, office space and transport money. No donation is too small.

If you can assist the organisations in any way, contact Uys on 062 029 9684, Fane on 066 338 1328 and Mahlangu on 082 477 9932.
