Local teams go head to head in soccer tournament

The Boksburg Football Club recently hosted the ‘Let's play ball’ postseason soccer tournament at Prince George Park Stadium.

The event, which the organisers described as a one-of-a-kind event since 2013, saw 41 clubs (age groups u-6 to u-17) participating in the tournament.
Each age group fielded four teams, played three games, and the winner with the highest points in that age group winning the trophy and gold medals.

“The arrangement was not that simple, as we had very long lists of clubs who wanted to participate.
“The club committee and coaches played a very important role, working hard to plan this tournament. Thank you to those who participated and to all the clubs that supported us,” said Boksburg Football Club coach Ernest Seforo.

He described the tournament as successful, which also served as a learning curve for everyone involved in discovering what works and what doesn’t – and things to take into consideration when planning future events.

The tournament had no sponsor and organisers are appealing for sponsorship for their next preseason tournament.

The registration window period is open for all players and coaches who want to join the club from u-6 to seniors.
“Thank you Boksburg community for the support and thanks to the sincere chairperson Richard Masemola for leading Boksburg FC all the way.”
