The Advertiser invited all political parties’ ward councillor candidates to introduce themselves to voters through the Boksburg Advertiser.

Ward 22 DA councillor candidate Madelaine Muller

Madelaine Muller is the DA Ward 22 councillor candidate.

My name is Madelaine Muller, and I am the DA Ward 22 councillor candidate. I am standing to make a difference for the community I’m ready to serve. I believe South Africans, in particular the people of Ekurhuleni, deserve a government that represents them. As a people person, I believe I can help with decision-making and policy development for the residents I represent.

I want to drive better response turnaround times to service delivery-related complaints, which have severely affected the community of Ward 22. It is of paramount importance that my residents feel represented in all matters that concern their rights to access basic services.

I would like residents to feel they are being represented in government. I will strive to ensure Ward 22 has reliable and sustainable services. The area has been plagued by power outages and failing stormwater drains. It is time for accountability and clean governance. I’m passionate about equality, equal opportunities and fairness for all my fellow community members.

Independent candidate for Ward 34 Cyril Stanton Reeby

Independent candidate for Ward 34 Cyril Stanton Reeby.

Reeby was born and raised in Reiger Park.
“The #fixreigerpark movement is an independent movement. Our slogan is #thisisnotpoliticsitspersonal, which spreads the message of independency.
“Our independences as follows: to reflect, review and redeem ourselves from the current status quo back to glory by cultivating and nurturing a culture that builds and develops rather than destroys, one that disciplines with love rather than to cancel and that shares the bread rather than to store it for just in case, I need it.
“No one is left behind and everyone makes it to the other side. From ashes to glory, all because we bring back God to the centre of it all. God bless Reiger Park and all her people!
“Working together as a community towards building an all-inclusive, thriving and self-sustaining community!”

“I also intend to improved youth unemployment and provide recreational facilities for the community. I am actively involved in my community primarily through promoting health and fitness.
“I am a fitness consultant and encourage activities such as walking, running and other forms of outdoor exercise that improve the health and wellness of residents.

He pledges to serve tirelessly on the following problems, concerns and issues that affect the Ward 22 community: unemployment, poverty, health and Covid, welfare, housing and land, schools and crèches, crime and violence, gangs, substance abuse, services – water, electricity, sewage, refuse removal, transport and roads, and poor communication.
“The reasons for such concerns have not been communicated nor explained. I do not see any forthcoming improvement under the current organisation councillorship. I am fully aware that some issues cannot be solved before election day; however, I commit to resolve and eliminate them after winning elections.
“Please join me on November 1 to vote ANC to serve Ward 22 community for better as your indefatigable councillor.”

ANC Ward 43 candidate Refilwe Maphisa Ntenjwa

ANC Ward 43 candidate Refilwe Maphisa Ntenjwa.

“I grew up in Dawn Park. I attended Sunward Park High School and pursued my LLB at Unisa. Community service delivery is important as it provides a foundation a community builds on to improve the lives of citizens. When service delivery and community development is effective, there is less crime, less disparity, better jobs available and fewer overall issues that impact residents.
“It is not enough for us to vote. It is not enough for equality to be written in the Constitution and laws. Service delivery and change should be speeded up for all races. We also look forward to running programmes on skills development and capacity building.
“The ANC seeks to create a united democratic and non-racial society.”

ATM Ward 45 candidate David Ralehlathe

ATM Ward 45 candidate David Ralehlathe.

“I am going to relieve our community from the pains of poor service delivery, corruption and incompetency. Poverty has taken the form of hunger and starvation, high rates of unemployment, high crime rate and injustice and basic infrastructure.
“We need to drive a corrupt-free, accountable and capable municipality. Integrated sustainable human settlement by supporting job creation is important. Enhanced local economic development and promoting peace, justice, safety and security re priorities. I also want to elevate the value of traditional and religious affairs.”

DA Ward 23 candidate Andre du Plessis

“I am standing as a ward councillor because I believe the DA is the only party that has the integrity and interest of all people in South Africa at heart. It has a proven track record of clean governance, adherence to the rule of law and thereby a strong commitment to fighting fraud and corruption. “The DA is the only party that promotes freedom, fairness, diversity and opportunity for all.
“If elected councillor, I will be driving the upgrades of the failing sewerage infrastructure in Bonaero Park that is having a devastating impact on the well-being of the residents, destroying the values of their properties, as well as destroying the ecology of the wetlands.
“I will also prioritise the annual control of alien invader species of aquatic reeds that are choking the free flow of water through the Atlasville stream.
“I will endeavour to get my ward’s fair share of the budgets for the maintenance and upgrades of parks, roads, electrical and water infrastructure. I engage with the community through service delivery Whatsapp, Telegram groups and social media platforms, which I then escalate to the appropriate departments in the municipality.
“Having been a ward councillor for 21 years, I have gained extensive experience of local government structures and functions with good people skills.”

“I have a solid relationship with Rotary International Boksburg Lake branch in the ward and liaise with Lions Round Table in Parkdene. DA Ward 32 candidate Andrew Harris

Andrew Harris is the ActionSA Ward 32 councillor candidate.

“My name is Andrew Harris and I’m the ActionSA Ward 32 councillor candidate. I’m an educator, patriot and an ordinary citizen who calls this ward my home. Our critical infrastructure that keeps the lights on and our water flowing is crumbling, but rates and taxes continue to soar. In our ward, we need a radical new dispensation that will put South Africans first in our town, restore law and order, clean up the inner-city and invest heavily into new infrastructure. If you want more action and less opposition whining, on November 1 vote for a new voice in council that pushes for smart, no-nonsense governance – vote Andrew Harris & ActionSA.

ICM Ward 43 candidate Yvonne Sibeko

ICM Ward 43 candidate Yvonne Sibeko.

“I’m looking forward to a time where our communities shall be free from drug abuse and unemployment. There’s a need to empower the youth to stand for their rights and let their voices be heard. It is because of corruption and bribes that our country is in the state it is today.
“I form part of the people who would like to see a change in our youth, as they are our future. If we let them down, what is going to become of this country? We will remain in poverty if we won’t rise for the youth of today.”

“I am standing as a ward councillor because I believe in fairness where everyone is treated equally before the rule of law.
“I love to serve the community across diverse communities from existing complexes, new residential developments and informal settlements. I attend to address issues related to stormwater drainage, sewage overflow, road maintenance, street light upgrades and the electrification of Tamboville informal settlement. I have worked with local stakeholders in the community in driving issues such as crime prevention and making parks and green space safer for the public.
“I plan to hold public meetings with local communities to provide regular feedback on all local issues. I will fiercely fight for quality service delivery and getting things done.”

DA Ward 33 candidate Ashley Hoods

DA Ward 33 candidate Ashley Hoods.

“I believe the DA is the only party that can bring the change and good governance needed to turn the failing City of Ekurhuleni around.
“Our communities are crying for services and it’s time for a capable government that can deliver. It is for this reason I am standing for the DA as the candidate. I believe in community consultation and engagement. I strive to have issues identified resolved speedily.
“My vision for Ward 33 is to stop the rot and collapse of our infrastructure. We need to fight to restore our area to its former glory. I want to fight for a clean, safe and liveable environment. The issues I’ve identified in the ward are rampant power outages, caused by cable theft and ageing electrical infrastructure. Street light maintenance, stormwater maintenance and roads are collapsing.
“It is time for a change. The residents and community of Ward 33 shouldn’t have to put up with failing infrastructure and poor services.”

DA Ward 34 candidate Asobio Wilfred

DA Ward 34 candidate Asobio Wilfred.

“I am standing as a ward councillor to continue driving local issues in the community, understanding these issues and taking them up with the municipality to ensure efficient service delivery.
“There are high levels of unemployment across Ward 34 and there is a lack of adequate housing. I want to bring these issues to the council and fight for my community’s needs. I aim to improve the community and encourage residents to be proud of their community while providing a strong voice on behalf of all residents.
“The current administration is failing the residents of Ekurhuleni, as many of these issues are simply being neglected. With the DA, we can get things done!
“I will represent the community I serve, regardless of a political party, to enhance service delivery. I believe by uniting, we can save our community and uplift our community. I no longer want to see unemployed youth sitting on street corners, while backyard dwellers do not have adequate housing.
“I have been involved in different community forums and I am serving on the CPF in our community. By being responsive in the community, we can get things done. I provide leadership and will engage with the local community’s residents and stakeholders. I am a strong communicator, a problem-solver and an approachable individual. Furthermore, I am dedicated and passionate about serving my community.”

“As the DA candidate for Ward 43, I am ready to serve the community once again. In the upcoming term, I will endeavour to get services delivered to the community.
“Through engagements with the communities, I will strive to have a mobile clinic in Windmill Park and fight for safer communities. Leeuwpoort Development remains a top priority going into the new term. Being on the ground, water and power outages continue to plague our community. Resolving these service delivery challenges will be a priority for me.
“As the current ward councillor, I have established a weekly soup kitchen in Windmill Park and skills development programmes for women and children, as well as initiated clean-up campaigns addressing the waste issue throughout the ward.
