So far, the department has recorded 250 450 applications for Grade One and 30 409 applications processed for Grade Eight.

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) reminds parents and guardians that phase two of the 2022 online admission application period for Grade One and Eight will close on October 8 at midnight.

The department said as of October 7, they’ve recorded 250 450 applications made for Grade One and 30 409 applications made for Grade Eight, which brings the total of successful phase two applications to 280 859.

According to Steve Mabona, Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson, applications can still be made on www.gdeadmissions.gov.za.

“Parents are reminded to upload their documents onto our system when applying, ensuring that each uploaded document is certified for schools to verify them accordingly.
“The placement period will commence on October 15 until November 30, and parents who applied during the application period will receive placement offers via SMS at that stage.
“As the application period of the 2022 online admissions in Gauteng successfully draws to a close, we must commend all stakeholders who were involved in this year’s application period,” said Mabona.

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi said: “To the scores of parents and guardians who patiently followed the application process to completion and our dedicated staff members stationed across the province who were always ready to assist parents through this process, we are exceedingly grateful to you all for having made this year’s application period triumphant.

“We are pleased with the success of the online admissions system so far, more so through the new two-phase approach, which we introduced this year.
“We are thankful to everyone who played a role during this application period and we are hopeful for a successful placement period in the days to come.”
