Armed men rob Atlas Mall Pep store

No shots were fired and nobody was injured.

Armed robbers stormed Pep store in Atlas Mall and fled with dozens of brand-new cellphones and thousands of rands.

Boksburg North police confirmed that the robbery happened at about 09:45 on August 29.

According to Boksburg North spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, two men arrived at the store and one of them drew a firearm and threatened the manager who was at the front door.

The pair forced the manager into the office where they demanded he open the money and cellphone safes, which he did.

They then handed the manager a bag and told him to hold it open for them to load the loot.

The suspects were reportedly seen fleeing the scene in two vehicles with the stolen money and cellphones. Ramaube said no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

The police believe the store was targeted by the same criminals who robbed another Pep store in Benoni on August 27.

The robbery at the mall comes after a series of business robberies in Boksburg where a range of chain stores, including Pep and Ackermans, are repeatedly targeted by armed gangs.
