St Francis’ caregiver retires after 25 years of service

The centre thanked the dedicated caregiver for serving the centre with integrity and determination.

St Francis Care Centre caregiver Zondo Mashadi Precious recently retired after serving the centre for 25 years.

According to James Matli, fund-raiser at St Francis, Precious started working at St Francis as a caregiver in 1996 when the centre was established.

“She worked at the centre when HIV/Aids infections were at their worst and nursed many critically ill patients.

“In 2011, she was given an opportunity to study nursing and qualified as an auxiliary nurse in 2012.

“In January 2021, Precious got married and her husband was offered a post in Cape Town, where both of them have since relocated,” said Matli.

Matli said the centre regrets losing Precious’ services and wishes her well in her new journey.

“St Francis would like to express its gratitude to Precious for serving the centre with integrity, determination, and inspiring her colleagues to strive towards excellence. She was extremely passionate about her work,” he added.

The dedicated nurse said she is sad about leaving St Francis after all these years.

“My heart was bleeding as I had to greet the centre and its children. To all members of St Francis, I value your friendship and the support you have given me over the years. May the centre continue to do a good job and become the best centre in the country,” she said in a video posted on St Francis’ Facebook page.
