School child dies after allegedly jumping from rooftop of 7-storey council building

Boksburg police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the teenage girl.

A 15-year-old school child died after allegedly jumping from the seven-storey Boksburg Civic Centre building in the Boksburg CBD, at about 3pm today  (April 16).

Although details surrounding the apparent suicide remain sketchy at this stage, Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Ntsako Ledwaba confirmed that they received a call from the scene alleging that a young girl had jumped from the municipal building.

Police at the scene stated that the circumstances leading up to the girl falling to her death are not yet known. They added that the matter is still under investigation, and that an inquest docket would be registered.

Reports from the scene allege that the teenage girl, who attends school in Edenvale, jumped from the rooftop of the municipal building. She was declared dead at the scene by paramedics who responded to the fall.
