Miss and Mr East Rand finalists clean up Boksburg CBD in celebration of Human Rights Day

The aim of this initiative was to give back to the community and celebrate Human Rights Day

About 50 Mr and Miss East Rand finalists cleaned up parts of the Boksburg CBD on March 20 to commemorate Human Rights Day.

From as early as 8am, the finalists began to pick up litter in the vicinity of the Boksburg Taxi Rank and the Department of Home Affairs in Boksburg. The founder of the pageant, Nonhlanhla Dalasile, said she could not turn a blind eye when she recently noticed rubbish on the streets of the CBD.

“I wanted to do something about the problem, so I asked the boys and girls to participate in a clean-up session to celebrate Human Rights Day. Everybody has the right to a clean environment,” Dalasile said.

She expressed her gratitude to the models that came out to join the initiative. “They all looked professional and eager to work,” she added.

The founder explained the pageant aims to empower the youth by giving them a platform to bring substantial change and become charity ambassadors in the communities and beyond.

“Our goal is to see each individual joining the pageant reach their full potential and become the best versions of themselves.

Our vision is to build the confidence of young people through modelling. “We want to give the youth a platform to launch their dreams and teach them leadership and entrepreneurial skills,” Dalasile added.
