Kuselo thankful for Sandvik’s kind gesture

The organisation is still in need of funds to purchase its safe house

Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services would like to express its gratitude to Sandvik for upgrading the organisation’s Heaven Sent Safe House in Boksburg North.

The company built a garage for the organisation and enclosed the side and front porch of the safe house. They also painted the outside of the house and installed a new washing line.

One of the new enclosed rooms will be used as an office and classroom for the younger children. The organisation will keep fridges and washing machines in the room at the back.

“We’re so grateful that Sandvik renovated the safe house for us. They don’t realise how much it means to us and the many doors they opened for the children,” said the founder.

Coetzee said the organisation is now even more determined to purchase a safe house.
The owner of the property, which is used as a safe house for abused and neglected children, is allowing the organisation to purchase the house.

Coetzee explained Kuselo would have to raise an estimated amount of R1.5-million before the end of the year if they want to buy the house.

“The purchase amount of R800 000 for the property is only valid for 12 months. The extra money will go towards legal fees and much-needed renovations,” she explained.

Coetzee said it would be beneficial for the organisation to purchase the property.

“This means we wouldn’t have to pay rent every month, which will help us a lot. It’s becoming more difficult to scrape money together for rent.”

She said donations towards the purchasing of the property are coming on slowly and appealed to the community for support.
