Nineteen athletes from the Parkrand Goju Karate Academy (PGKA) were chosen to represent Ekurhuleni at the Gauteng All-Styles Karate Provincial Championships in Turffontein over the weekend of February 20 and 21.
The local dojo enjoyed a successful weekend, bringing back to Boksburg a total of 22 medals split 11 gold, five silver and six bronze.
Furthermore, 15 of the club’s athletes will be representing Gauteng at Karate South Africa Nationals Championships in March.
An additional statement from PGKA read: “Goju Karate Academy is operating as usual and we are fully Covid-19 compliant to ensure our students’ safety while still maintaining a high standard of training in all of our karate, kobudo (weapons) and fitness classes.”
