Who cares!

Apologies for “stepping on anyone’s toes”, but many Ekurhuleni ratepayers don’t give a hoot that the City manager is a female. All we want is someone who can do the job efficiently.
In fact, all the metro staff can be female as long as they are competent to do the myriad tasks without factoring in fraud and corruption.
Over the long lockdown period I’m fairly sure salaries continued to be paid. Normal government practice as it’s “other people’s” money.
The poor state of Boksburg and other towns in Ekurhuleni starkly highlight the lack of cleaning and general maintenance over the years. In the past months of no work, Ekurhuleni is now on the verge of falling into the category of a squalid city.
Of course, when employees return to work there will be the usual poor work ethic and huge amounts of overtime paid to return the metro to being merely unkempt.
So new city manager, I propose your first port of call in improving the lives of all is modernise all the years’ old electrical sub-stations and cabling. We pay ridiculous charges for electricity and suffer regular blackouts.
Then there is the water pipes that regularly burst and leak like sieves. Is this why the tariff increases over the years have been so high – to cover the losses?
It would be helpful that when you drive you pay attention to the condition of many of the roads. Again, lack of maintenance is the reason for the potholes and other problems, such as grass encroachment.
Your (male) predecessors were basically incompetent. Let’s see if you can make a difference.
