Miss Boksburg 2020 aims to inspire

The newly crowned Miss Boksburg wants to influence the youth in a positive way

Matshidiso Mokgotho was announced Miss Boksburg 2020 during the pageant’s grand finale at a venue in Boksburg on October 31.

The 24-year-old, who grew up in Springs, has an honours degree in nursing sciences from the University of Pretoria. She is a nurse at the Stanza Bopape Clinic.

It is the first time Mokgotho, who moved to Pretoria two years ago, competed in a pageant.

“I always wanted to enter pageants, but I decided to focus on my education. Now that I have my degree, I thought this was the perfect time to enter the contest,” Matshidiso said.

She described her victory as a dream come true.

“I’m truly grateful that I won this competition. The moment they called my name out as the winner was phenomenal. I didn’t expect to walk away with the crown, but I worked really hard for it. The journey was amazing and the models learnt a lot,” Matshidiso added.

The frontline worker is determined to utilise this newfound platform to inspire and influence the youth.

“Miss Boksburg is going to give me the oppurtunity to help others, something that I’m passionate about,“ she added.
Matshidiso would like to participate in Miss South Africa in the future.

She thanked her parents, family, colleagues and Faith Gounder (organiser of the pageant) for their support.
