Suspected dealer allegedly drugs girlfriend to rob her

Police reports indicate the man, who was nabbed with unlicensed guns, contributed to his own downfall by drugging his girlfriend unconscious before stealing her money

A man was arrested at his Reiger Park home on November 9, where he was allegedly found in possession of drugs and two unlicenced firearms.
Acting on information received, the sector policing team visited the in Marikana informal settlement, Reiger Park, and noticed their person of interest standing in front of his door with a black school bag.
According to the acting Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Mashudu Phathela, when the man saw the officers approaching he tried to evade them by opening his door with the intention hiding inside, but officers caught him before he could enter the shack.
“When our members swooped on him, they found a pistol on his waist. Six Mandrax tablets were found inside his trousers.
“Upon further investigation, another 9mm pistol with one magazine, seven crystal meth sachets, six sachets of Cat, two glass smoking pipes, 15 empty ziplock plastic bags and R210 cash (believed to be the proceeds of drugs) were found inside the bag he was carrying,” explained Phathela.

Police seized these drugs and weapons from a man believed to be a drug dealer in the township.

Girlfriend drugged
Police investigations suggested the man sells drugs, which he also used to rob his 18-year-old girlfriend, who had inherited money from her deceased parents.
“He would drug his girlfriend into unconsciousness before stealing her money by transferring it from her account into his own using a cellphone banking app,” said Phathela.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges of possession of unlicenced firearms and dealing in drugs.

Reiger Park SAPS station commander Lt Col Eugene Roets commended the officers on a job well done, adding that ridding the community of the items that are detrimental to society, such as drugs and weapons, is a top priority.
“It was a real breakthrough moment. Thanks to my dedicated teams who strive against all odds to make this area a safe and better place to live and do legal business in.”
