Neglected dogs confiscated

The owner claimed he was at work

The Boksburg SPCA confiscated four dogs from a house in Salfin, near Carnival City, after the dogs were allegedly left outside during the downpour on October 31.

According to Boksburg SPCA manager Vicky Finnemore, they heard of the situation from a concerned member of the public.

“When we arrived at the house, we found two dogs chained to poles with no access to food, shelter or water,” she said.

Finnemore said the Boksburg SPCA issued two notices on October 31 for the owner to contact the society but they received no response.

On November 1, the dogs were confiscated with a court order and assistance from the Dawn Park police.

“Minutes after the animals were taken to the Boksburg SPCA pound, the hostile owner arrived demanding his animals back. Security was called to have him removed,” Finnemore said.

According to Finnemore, they thought the owner was on a holiday but he claimed he was not on holiday, but at work.

The four dogs happily accepted food, blankets and bedding. “They are very affectionate and starved of attention,” Finnemore said.
