Family members attacked with pickaxe during robbery

The police are appealing to anyone with information or anyone who saw the suspect leaving the house to phone the police on 08600 10111

The Boksburg North police have opened a case of attempted murder and house robbery after a family of three from Morganridge were attacked with a pickaxe during a robbery around 10am on September 4.

According to the armed response officer from SWS Security who arrived first on the scene, he found the 83-year-old father, 65-year-old mother and their 32-year-old daughter unconscious.

Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube said an unknown suspect allegedly attacked the victims with the axe before robbing them.

“The suspect was seen on the video footage carrying a school bag on his back, jumping the wall and was also seen leaving. It is not clear what he could have stolen from the house, though a house safe allegedly looked like it was missing, but investigations will confirm,” Ramaube said.

The three family members were taken to hospital for head injuries.

The police are appealing to anyone with information or anyone who saw the suspect leaving the house to phone the police on 08600 10111.
