Woodlands learners support Kids Haven

Actor, writer, director, model, motivational speaker and teacher, Tsietsi Morobi, who is also a product of Kids Haven, accepted the donation

In the light of Humanitarian Day, which is commemorated on August 19, Woodlands International College opened their hearts by making a contribution towards Kids Haven, in Benoni.

The donation included non-perishable foods such as tinned food, maize meal, tea, sweets and cool drink.

According to Marina de Vos, educator at the senior college, the contribution was also part of the Woodlands’ outreach programme. “We assisted Kids Haven because we wanted to reach out to children and put smiles on their faces.”

She highlighted parents of the college made the donation possible.

Actor, writer, director, model, motivational speaker and teacher, Tsietsi Morobi, who is also a product of Kids Haven, accepted the donation and expressed his gratitude towards the college.

“On behalf of Kids Haven, thank you Woodlands International College for the generous contribution. Kids Haven runs an outreach programme, and this donation will give them the opportunity to assist other people in the community.

“Woodlands must carry on with these types of initiatives. It will allow children to dream instead of having to worry about when they’re going to get their next meal,” said Morobi, who moved to Kids Haven in 2002 after the death of his mother in 2000.

Morobi, who also runs his own drama programme at Kids Haven, urged community members to assist the youth where they can.

“There are so many talents in rural areas, however, on many occasions these talents go to waste as facilities to develop such potential are out of reach for the youth,” he said.

His advice to the youth is learn a new skill and share information.
