#67minutes SPCA’s Mandela Day spay day

As part of preserving the legacy of Nelson Mandela, the Boksburg SPCA reached out to animals in the area by sterilising them.

On Mandela Day, July 18, more than 40 cats and dogs were sterilised at the Boksburg SPCA as part of honouring the legacy of Nelson Mandela.

The Boksburg SPCA partnered with PET community outreach, veterinarians from other institutions like Vet Techs, Unisa students and volunteers.

At least 10 cats from feral colonies were sterilised with six domestic cats and 28 dogs from disadvantage households.

According to Boksburg SPCA manager, Vicky Finnemore, not only does sterilisation benefit the animal from a health perspective, but it relieves a huge burden on families who don’t want many kittens and puppies.
