St Francis overwhelmed by Mandela Day support

Despite the challenges faced by the pandemic, St Francis Care Centre is humbled by the community's support on Mandela Day

The St Francis Care Centre is humbled by the support they received from the community on Mandela Day this year.

James Matli, St Francis Care Centre fund-raiser, explained the community was welcome to open their hearts by bringing donations to the centre.

Here is a list of individuals and companies who opened their hearts to the children and patients of the centre on Mandela Day:

  • Madiba Hygiene deep-cleaned five vehicles at St Francis for the 67 minute act of kindness.
  • The group of friends from the Post a Can/Sandwich initiative supported the centre on Mandela Day by donating tons of necessities such as non-perishable food.
  • Lazarus Legacy Foundation donated medical supplies and PPE, like sanitiser, as part of their 67 Minutes for Mandela Day.
  • Pro Acts Panels Panel Beaters donated food parcels and stationery that were on the care centre’s wish list.
  • Ruth Pakati donated bags full of baby clothing, which will help to keep the babies warm during the last stretch of winter.
  • Unilever and the Fisher family donated more than three boxes of essential items, such as non-perishable foods and washing powder.
