Essentials for the needy collected during patrol through Boksburg

The main objective of the event was to collect items for their The Forgotten East Rand feeding scheme and to honour frontline workers

Legendary Guardians Exclusive Protection and Kuselo Child Youth Care Services held a successful high visibility charity drive in Boksburg on May 22.

The visibility patrol started at around 5pm and all frontline “heroes” in the East Rand were invited to participate.

It started in Beyers Park and then also covered areas such as Westwood, Boksburg North and Jansen Park.

Clinton Festraets, organiser of the mass visibility patrol, explained the main objective of the event was to collect items for the needy and to honour frontline workers.

The community showed support by donating non-perishable foods, clothing and winter essentials, among other items.

Festraets described the event as a success and expressed his sincere gratitude towards those who supported the initiative.

“We received more than we expected during our patrol and all the items will go towards The Forgotten East Rand project. We are grateful to all community members and businesses who donated and came out with their families to support us. Their contributions are appreciated, and we know that we couldn’t have done it without their assistance. It really makes us feel like we’re important to the people in our community. Together we can achieve more.”

He emphasised they appreciate all the hard work frontline workers are doing in the fight against the coronavirus.

The security company and non-profit organisation initiated The Forgotten East Rand project when the lockdown started. They feed thousands of people affected by the lockdown in areas like Boksburg North, Reiger Park and at Andries Scribante Haven.

They also hand out necessities and feed animals in need.

Anybody who would like to support them can contact Clinton on 076 541 1159 or Amanda on 072 512 7227.
