Dhisha invited to the prestigious 2020 American Odyssey STEM tour

This tour includes visits to exciting museums, institutions and world-class universities.

Dhisha Ramsaroop has been invited to attend the third 2020 American Odyssey STEM tour in the United States from June 23 to July 2.

The Grade Eight prodigy from Curro Academy in Parkdene will be accompanied by fellow science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) top achievers from various other high schools in South Africa.

This prestigious tour does not only include some of the most breathtaking sites the states has to offer but will also allow these young geniuses to visit some of the most renowned universities and STEM institutions in America.

Dhisha said the objective of the tour is for candidates to gain knowledge of mathematics and science on an international level while exploring America.

Besides the academic requirements, all-round characteristics of the learners were also taken into account.

“I’m overwhelmed and grateful to the school for recognising our academic achievements. I also want to thank my parents for allowing me to have this experience; it was thrilling to receive the invitation.

“You get to meet experts from these fields and can learn what the possibilities are if you wish to take up these fields. “Many students tend to lose interest in these subjects as they grow older,” the bright learner explained.

She highlighted that hard work is important when it comes to mathematics and science. Therefore, she tries to spend as much time as possible on these subjects.

Dhisha wishes to go into the medicine field in the future.

Her mother, Radhina, is appealing for sponsorship to help them cover the costs of the tour, which is R49 900.

She added that her child is a dedicated learner and that she is proud of her achievement.
