Drug Enforcement Unit arrest five for various offenses

All the arrested five suspects will appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers nabbed five male suspects during a crime prevention operation in Windmill Park and Vosloorus areas on March 14. 

Narcotics, cash and illicit cigarettes were confiscated.

According to Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson, on Phefumuluha Street in Windmill Park, dagga valued at R7 800 and R110 cash was found upon a a 28-year old.

“He was arrested and taken to Dawn Park police station where charges of possession and dealing in illicit substance was registered against him,” said Mokheseng.

He said by the Lindelane informal settlement (Windmill Park area), two suspects were apprehended after officers seized 58 ziplocks, a plastic bag containing loose dagga, and 15 knotted plastics of nyaope valued at R4200 and R450 cash.

“The pair was escorted to Dawn Park police station and charged with, possession and dealing in illicit substance.”

Mokheseng said the DEU members made a turn on Barry Marais Road in Vosloorus area and two suspects were handcuffed.

“Officers uncovered 135 cartons of cigarettes and 16 loose boxes of cigarettes valued at R60 400. They were marched to Vosloorus police station where charges of possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes, were levelled against them.”
