United get burnt in Mpumalanga

An announcement of United’s official captain for the season is still pending.

A short-handed East Rand United lost their third consecutive pre-season game when they were pummeled 47-7 by the Nelspruit Rugby Club in Malelane on March 7.

The heavy defeat followed losses to Raiders and Wits, meaning United will run out for their first official game of the season, a TW Super Cup clash against Brakpan at the Bosman Stadium this Saturday (March 21), winless.

With the Reiger Park outfit being heavily short-handed on their trip to the province of the sun, it will be interesting to see who the team head coach Alvandre Maart will put out at Brakpan, which is expected to be the team, or at least close to the team, which will represent East Rand United in what promises to be a long, tough season.

United will also be involved in the SARU Gold Cup and at a later stage, the Valke Peregrine League – this adding to their commitments in the TW Super Cup.

They are scheduled to kick off their Gold Cup on April 25.
