Help donate school shoes, uniforms to disadvantaged children

Donations will be accepted until March 28.

Growing Together Foundation, spearheaded by Abel Taimo, hopes to donate tons of school shoes, school uniform, books, stationery and school bags to disadvantaged learners in Boksburg.

They, however, need the public’s help.

The Windmill Park resident started collecting these items four weeks ago after seeing a need in his community.

He still needs more donations before he hands over the items on April 3 to beneficiaries from Thulasizwe Primary School, Windmill Park Primary School and Windmill Park Secondary School.

“I have decided to collect these essential items annually because I want to equip the learners with necessary equipment to enhance their schooling experience.

“Having gone through the same struggles of not having a proper school uniform and shoes, I don’t want any child to go to school without these necessities. I don’t want learners to resort to getting into wrong relationships for the sake of money so that they can buy school uniform or shoes,” said Taimo.

The 25-year-old said he won’t be accepting cash but he wants people to physically go and buy these items.

“To make a change in someone’s life, you don’t need to be a millionaire but with only R100 you can put a smile on someone’s face,” he said.

Anyone who’s willing to support this initiative can buy anything from the listed items and then drop it off at Boksburg EMPD building or you can phone him on 068 580 7507.
