Another Dis-Chem Ride for Sight win for the Day brothers

Over 4 500 cyclists geared up to participate in the iconic road-cycling event.

Dusty Day emerged as the winner of the 2020 Dis-Chem Ride for Sight as he led an elite group and held on to cross the line in 2:34:14 at the Boksburg City Stadium on February 16.

Day was closely followed by Jayde Julius from Cape Town.

Day’s brother, Tyler, won the event in 2015, making the pair the only brothers to have both won this event.

The ladies’ race was won by Kim Le Court de Billot from Mauritius, with Cherise Willeit coming in a close second.

The first men’s tandem pair home were Dewald Malan and Kelvin Johnson.

The Paralympic disabled tandem duo of Gavin Kilpatrick and Mys van der Merwe won in the 62km disabled category.

Director of Dis-Chem Stan Goetsch thanked the City of Ekurhuleni for hosting the event, the co-sponsors, volunteers and traffic officials, but especially the cyclists who support this event.

The event has raised over R10-million over the past 32 years to fund treatments for retinal genetic blindness

Retina South Africa is the only NPO in the country that funds treatment for genetic vision loss.
